Keeping Your Cool for Your Spring/Summer Wedding

By Emily Caspring weddingpdevielle

The spring and summer seasons proves to be the most popular time to get hitched. However, with these two seasons including the peak wedding season months, there are so many factors to consider during the wedding planning aside from the flowers and wedding venue that may influence other crucial wedding decisions like the weather and pricing of various services. While these factors may create some wrinkles in your plans, don’t let them get your veil in a twist, just make sure you cover all of the “what ifs” and your wedding should run smoothly without any unpleasant surprises.

During the spring and summer months, the weather is a factor you definitely need to keep in mind when booking the venue, choosing flowers and dresses.  Depending on where you are planning the wedding, spring tends to be a rainy season and may cramp your outdoor wedding style. However, if you are a gambler and want to take that chance by booking an outdoor wedding, make sure the venue can accommodate for the wedding to be moved indoors (and that you’re satisfied with the option if need be). Some outdoor venues do not have an indoor option or if they do, it may be smaller in size and may only accommodate a small percentage of your invited guests…which would of course make for an awkward and embarrassing situation.

You also want to keep the climate in mind when picking out your wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses.  Light and airy fabrics such as chiffon, silk or cotton are great choices when you are out shopping so you’re not sweating up a storm at the altar. It would also be wise to stay away from dresses that have multiple layers of tulle…that simply does not breathe.  The weather may also be a concern for the certain flowers you want for your bouquets.  Ideally, you would be wise to choose a type of flower that is tropical or can withstand higher temperatures. The last thing you want is to be holding a bouquet of wilting flowers by the time you say “I do!”

The cost of everything is always another vital thing to consider no matter what month the wedding may be in. Unfortunately, the spring and summer seasons include the prime wedding months where almost every couple wants to get married…this means high demand and paying full-price or a premium for services or for the venue.  Timing is certainly everything in the wedding industry and if you want to get what you want and when you want it…you have to act FAST. I recommend narrowing down your favorite venues as soon as possible to ensure that you can book the date that you want. If you wait too long to book a place, don’t expect your date to be open, especially on a Saturday.  Depending on the venue, you may still be able to land a discount if you have the wedding on a Friday or Sunday.

While there are some factors that may require you to make some minor adjustments for your big day, with a spring or summer wedding, there are more options available to you when considering your ceremony or reception site. If you are planning on having a very large wedding, you won’t have to worry about your guests being crammed into one space. If the site has an outdoor patio area for instance or outdoor space where you can set up tents, guests will have a lot more room to spread out and enjoy the party! At Chapel in the Pines every wedding includes full use of both the Chapel and the outdoor garden and gazebo area so you never have to worry about the weather! View our gallery here!
